What a good coach should do

July 20th, 2014 by

I read this quote about marriage a while back and have come to realize that it really pertains to all relationships including friendships and even a coaching relationship.

“Honesty without love is cold. But love without honesty is shallow.”

A good coach should care about you as a client. But it is because of this that they cannot just sit back and tell you what you WANT to hear when you NEED to hear something else.

A good coach should always tell you the truth BECAUSE they care about you. Not telling you the truth just to appease your feelings is not actually caring.

When a coach speaks the truth to you, despite the fact that you might not want to hear it, it shows that they DO care about you and that they want better for you.

If what we write here sometimes comes across as direct or harsh, it isn’t the intent to offend you, but to be completely honest with you and help you to achieve everything we know you are capable of.

A coach who cares does not want a shallow relationship and will always tell you what you need to hear.
