Jefferson Squat

September 22nd, 2016 by

One of my favorite leg exercises that you probably have never seen before. This is called the “Jefferson Squat”.

Nothing that I post on instagram gets nearly as many views or generates as much discussion as these. I wish more people discovered this really cool exercise. (and no I am not the guy grunting and making all the noise in the background lol).

They are an “old school” movement that hardly anyone does anymore. Jefferson Squats are a great way to target the legs with extra emphasis on the glutes, hamstrings and adductors. They are especially beneficial if your lower back is tight and/or you cannot load your spine for whatever reason but still wish to squat.

I usually use them as a “finisher movement” after I have done my conventional or front squat work on leg days. Very little weight is required on these to get the job done.

Hopefully I will be able to bring you a detailed tutorial video for Jefferson squats in the near future if there is enough interest.
