Is your fitness program sustainable for the long run? Fitness needs to be a forever mindset.

My wife has a friend that I happen to follow on Instagram.

Every couple months she’ll post that she’s doing some kind of 21-day to 6-week fat-loss challenge or program. Each subsequent day for that period will be pictures of every meal, workout selfies, and a hashtag for whatever program she’s on at the time.

Following that period will be a lull in posts and eventually the arrival of another program that she’s decided will fulfill all of her fat-loss goals.

What is most disappointing to me about this (and probably to her too) is that she actually does make progress during each program only to lose all the progress when she goes off at the end of whatever time frame the program lasts and she ends up having to start all over again.

I don’t want to appear as though I am condemning her for her efforts because I can certainly appreciate that she is trying, but I think the biggest issue here isn’t nearly as much about effort as it is about her mindset.

If what you’re doing in the short-term is unsustainable beyond a certain period of time then you’re not going to do it for the long.

Fitness needs to be a forever mindset. If you start a program with a focus any different than that, you’re going to fall short every time.
