How to approach the holidays with balance

December 18th, 2014 by

Given the time of year, the Christmas parties, the Christmas dinners, the cookie baking, I figured my respond to a client biweekly today might have some application to more than just her.

Client:
Nutrition is going. It’s hard with all the holiday tempatation but I have planned out which festivities to attend.”

Sir LBC:
Understandable but you should not expect yourself to diet THROUGH holiday festivities. That is not what I consider balanced. Enjoy your holiday plans, guilt free. My recommendatin is to simply focus that off-plan eating to those PLANNED times and not just throw in the towel every day just because it’s Christmas. Don’t let the planned off-plan eating bleed into other days. Does that make sense?

Honestly, over the holidays, I consider maintenance to be a great success. It’s just not realistic to expect good progress this month because doing so requires you sacrifice these plans and that’s just miserable. Most people gain weight this month and thus I come back to the fact that maintaining is success right now. Focus on that, choose to fully immerse yourself in the holiday season and all that comes with it and then hit it nice and hard in January.”
