Coach Beth’s Front Squat

Front squats are one of my favorite exercises for quad development. A few key things to remember with these:
1) keep your chest/torso as vertical as you can
2) keep your elbows up, and actively drive them up when you come out of the hole if you tend to let them drop
3) never look down at the floor
4) keep the weight in the mid-foot

Since the weight is counterbalanced in front of you, I find this squat variation to feel a bit easier on the body. But when the weight starts to get heavy, it’s easy to lose core tension and it’s easy to dip forward. Once that forward momentum starts, it’s hard to find your center again. Stay tight and stay vertical. Happy squatting!
