Florida Conference

So the first leg of my trip is now complete. I was down in West Palm Beach, Florida at a 3-day conference. It's been a lot of information to soak up, but definitely a fun time to date. It's been neat to hook back up with some old friends and meet some new ones as well. I landed in Florida around 6:30pm and was hoping to get to the hotel and checked in in time for the 7pm meet and greet. Unfortunately for me, the cab hit some massive traffic on the way. Of course it doesn't end there; once he got through the traffic, he just drove slooooow. You know how when you get off the planeand you're on... read more 0 comments

Boy this thing is dusty ...

So, looking at my last post I see that I haven't touched this thing in oh, about four months. Wow. How lazy of me eh? (Eh, is Canadian for 'right?' for those of you with your silly Canadian jokes).

Myogenic tone is basically a measure of a muscle’s density. When your body is nice and lean, muscle density and hardness go a long way to enhancing the look of your body. In addition, the greater the loads used, the greater the recruitment of the fast twitch motor units – those with the greatest potential for size and strength. The problem is that most people don’t spend enough time lifting in the low-rep ranges because they think this kind of training is just... read more 2 comments

Junior USAs and Final Week Prep

So, I'm off to Charleston, SC this weekend for the Junior USAs. By now the cat is out of the bag so people know that Noel is stepping up for her first national show. It's been known that she was doing the Junior Nationals in Chicago, but we've kept this one quiet until this week. We're doing this one as a warm up, as I'm looking to fine tune the last few days of the prep. Last year I felt we hit the timing perfectly, but she's significantly leaner this time around, so I am playing with a few changes. Final week prep is really interesting and the effect tends to be magnified the leaner you get. Noel is very lean... read more 8 comments
