Alyssa’s feedback on the 2014 LBCWT conference

July 2nd, 2014 by

“I just want to offer a heartfelt thank you to you and all the coaches for a fun and educational weekend. Being a (sort of) newbie to weight training, I was especially nervous about what to expect during this trip. I was heading to a place I’ve never visited before, alone no less, not knowing a soul. What if nobody liked me? What if I looked ridiculous when I was lifting? It felt like high school all over again!

I felt a little better once the Facebook page went up for the attendees (great idea btw!). I put myself out there and found someone to share a cab with. Ok, it’s a start. At least I’ll know SOMEONE. From there I met up with a few other attendees and we took a quick trip to the beach…fun! Conversation was easy and the best part was being around like-minded people who don’t think counting out your almonds is weird! Ok…I can do this…now at least I didn’t have to walk into the meet and greet alone…whew!

My favorite part of the weekend and what really drove me to attend the conference was the one on one interaction with the coaches to correct my form. I am a very visual, hands on learner and this was invaluable to me. My squat has improved dramatically with only minor changes. I totally get how to do a row now and connect with the actual muscle I’m working. I wish I had time to go through each exercise on my plan but the gym was pretty busy and the coaches were understandably in high demand!

I never realized how much a role hormones play in the whole picture until now. I’ve already spoken with my physician and plan on getting a whole baseline panel done since I not only take a statin, but I have many other symptoms on the “list”.

The nutrition portion was educational as well. Very eye opening and very nice of the coaches to open up and share their own stories with us. We all come with some kind of nutritional baggage and it’s nice to know there’s hope and support out there if we need it.

Metabolic training was …challenging lol. I don’t have any in my plan right now and I was quickly reminded of how I didn’t miss it at ALL…but I DID IT (that includes my first burpee ever)! I’ll be adding a similar circuit to my weekly workouts starting next week…fun fun fun.

So again, thank you for keeping it real, sustainable, fun and challenging. Finding LBC/CWT has been life changing for me (and many others I suspect) so keep up the great work and I will definitely be attending your next conference whether it’s in the US or in your home gym!”
